Preschool Enrollment Specialist - Bronx

The Enrollment Specialist is responsible for quality and effective parent engagement that contribute to the healthy development of families and local community. The Enrollment Specialist will maintain a caseload, provide in-classroom support, make initial and ongoing assessment of family needs, and create work plans for families which involve goal setting, home visits, parent education, and family support services. The Enrollment Specialist is expected to adhere to the regulations and standards set forth by the Head Start Performance Standards and/or ACS Early Learn, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, New York City Department of Health regulations and all other applicable federal, state, and local entities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop respectful relationships with all families and parents.
  • Serve as an intermediary between the school, teacher, and family.
  • Offer referral and support services for children and families that will sustain the family unit and promote overall family well-being.
  • Participate in the recruitment and outreach of new enrollees, complete all required documentation for the enrollment of pregnant women and children, re-enrollment into the program, and maintain a waiting list.
  • Maintain communication with families that involves feedback regarding attendance, program information and services in program and classroom activities.
  • Ensure upmost confidentiality for children and parents information, paperwork, medical information, and overall file.
  • Develop & implement, parent education programming that will promote self-sufficiency for family’s needs and interests
  • Assist families in goal setting that identifies individual family needs, action steps, responsibilities, and resources that result in family progress.

Requirements

  • Experience in social work
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a team and supervisor

  • Relate to other employees beyond giving and receiving instructions
  • Get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards
  • Knowledge of child development and Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree
